Opening games get new date

DRAKES Huddersfield League officials have declared that Sunday, June 22, is earmarked for the re-scheduled opening day fixtures to be played.

Due to the wet start to the season and the waterlogged state of many of the grounds, the Executive took the decision to cancel the whole of the first day programme on Saturday, April 19.

The new date is also the reserve date for the third round of the Sykes Cup, which is due to be played on Sunday, June 15.

However, if weather intervenes again and the spare day is required, then the Cup will take precedence and the League programme will have to be re-scheduled once again.
