RU: Waterloo are first up for Huddersfield and fixtures

HUDDERSFIELD will head to historic Liverpool club Waterloo for their first competitive fixture of the 2009-10 rugby union campaign on Saturday, September 5.

And their second match seven days later will also take them to Merseyside, this time to the Wirral home of Caldy.

Their first home game in the renamed National II North division is a derby against Bradford & Bingley on Saturday, September 19.

Waterloo, who were founded back in 1882 and include England stars Will Greenwood, Kyran Bracken, Austin Healey and Ben Kay among their roster of former stars, have fallen on hard times in recent years and were relegated last season.

Old rivals Westoe, who visit Lockwood Park on Saturday, October 31, were promoted.

So too were Coventry club Broadstreet and Hull, who beat Chester in a play-off to join city rivals Hull Ionians in a 16-strong section.
