Cricket: Evening league win for Lepton Highlanders

LEPTON Highlanders are the 2011 Sellers Travel Evening Cricket League champions.

But their title win was decided on runs per wicket averages, as they tied with Walkers Arms on 30 points.

It was also down to averages to decide the title-winners of Sections 2 and 3.

The Section 2 title went to Meltham Wanderers, who tied with Scholes Chapelgaters on 31 points, while Yetton Dukes took the Section 3 award, after tying on points with Master Pizza.

Melthams Tom Matthews won the batting prize (ave 77.5) while Chris Brooksbank, of Nat West, scooped the bowling prize with an average of 10.2. The fielding prize went to Charlie Mitchell, of Yetton Dukes (8) and the wicket-keeping prize to Ashbrows Dave Hesling (13).

Sunday sees the Emmerson Cup final at Almondbury CC (2pm) between Lepton and Master Pizza.
