Cricket: Oldfield Cup final set to continue

THE Romida Oldfield Cup final between Slaithwaite and Meltham is now set to continue on Monday.

Only half the final has been played so far due to bad weather.

In the play that was possible, Slaithwaite were sent in to bat in wet conditions at Marsden having lost the toss and were bowled out for 63, with just three players getting into double figures.

Eddie Garside made 10, Lewis Bradley 15 and Zeeshan Khan 21, between them hitting five sixes and three fours.

Jack Wallis was the pick of Meltham’s attack with four for 14 from seven overs, while Alex Clegg claimed two for 20, and there was one wicket for change bowler Will Fraine and two for Cameron Field.

Attempts to resume the match during the week were hit by more bad weather.
