PLAYERS and supporters of Broad Oak may still be reeling from the shock of seeing the first team relegated from the Drakes League Premiership.
But the Colne Valley club have just received a small consolation, for after further inspection of the Second Eleven League tables, the results secretary discovered that Hoylandswaine had not been deducted the six points attributed to them for the Schweppes Trophy, meaning Broad Oak will now share the trophy (for the best results over the last six games) with the Barnsley club, as both teams finished level on 30 points.
Young Conor Woodruff was the Oak’s highest scorer in the Second XI programme, although Simon Peacock finished on top of the batting averages, while in the relegated first team, Chris Gill not surprisingly finished as their top run-scorer with 724, thanks to two unbeaten 150s.
All clubs are reminded to get their averages in to the Examiner as soon as possible in order to get them published.
Along with Broad Oak, early arrivals include those from Holmfirth and Thongsbridge.
