PROMOTED to Frank Platt Championship Two after just one season in the Drakes League, Cawthorne have already made a huge impression in the higher division, where they are so far undefeated.
In their latest outing, the Barnsley side skittled Emley Clarence for 57, Mark Sykes taking four for 30 and Richard Schofield three for one run.
Cawthorne did lose four wickets in reaching their target however, but have no opened up a six point lead at the top of the table from Hall Bower and Emley.
Skelmanthorpe still hold top spot despite losing to Slaithwaite in the second half of the double header weekend.
Dom Storey took six for 20 and Sean Alderson hit 41 as they defeated Marsden by four wickets on the Saturday, but despite Adam Dollive’s 42 they were bowled out for 115 at Hill Top the following day, although Slaithwaite did lose eight wickets before reaching the winning post with Richard Halsma making 43.
Golcar moved into second with back-to-back wins over Armitage Bridge and Broad Oak, where Asif Iqbal made a century and Gareth Crowther 67 in a 243-7 total before bowling out the Oak for 196, Will Metcalfe making 93 in reply.
Golcar made significantly less against Armitage Bridge 155-9, Iqbal again top-scoring with 47 as Mark Williamson claimed four for 27, but the home side quickly shuttered to 69 all out, Richard Hall taking four for 17 and Mick Brook four for 16.
Adam Steers came back to haunt his former teammates Elland, taking five for 17 at Hullen Edge as Scholes won by four wickets, and the following day, the Paddock Shield holders backed it up with victory at Marsden, where young Eden Pearson hit 67 and Craig Marsh 68 in a 248 tally, despite a seven-wicket return from Jack Smith. Smith also starred with the bat when Marsden replied, hitting 86, but the Hemplow side closed on 192-7, Jordan Saville taking four for 56.
Adam Carter fired an unbeaten 103 as struggling Shepley beat Elland, for whom Alex Rowles made 91 in reply, while there was an unbeaten 108 from Dale Winterbottom, now plying his trade in Lepton’s Seconds as they defeated Rastrick.
