Blackley cricket club cannot stop their slide

THE WOES of Blackley continued in the Towergate Halifax Cricket League’s top flight as they slipped to second bottom in the table.

They were beaten by 10 wickets at home to Warley as they suffered their sixth defeat of the season after such a promising start.

Batting first, Blackley saw both openers return to the pavilion without scoring, but Tom Baxter changed the trend hitting 29 and he received support from middle order batsman Daniel Houldin who top scored with 54.

However, Warley picked up regular wickets to bowl their rivals out for 143 and then openers Nolan Bottomley and Ben Atkinson went about knocking off the runs with Bottomley leading the way unbeaten on 73 while Atkinson was 65 not out.

In Division II there was no action for Outlane as their home game against Old Town was a victim of the weather.
