SPIN caused problems for Huddersfield Under 15s as they launched their Lord’s Taverners campaign with a defeat to Aire-Wharfe at Skelmanthorpe.
There was plenty of bounce for the slow bowlers and one after another of the Huddersfield batsmen offered simple catches as they were dismissed for 138, a total the visitors reached for the loss of four wickets.
Saqib Matlub was unbeaten on 26 when the final wicket fell for Huddersfield in the 45th over.
General feeling was that they were about 50 runs short but still had a chance if they could exert some pressure. An early wicket was unfortunately followed by a few dropped catches, and it was only a couple of wickets taken while the scores were level that narrowed the margin of defeat.
