Supporters’ big meeting

THE Huddersfield Town Supporters Club will be holding an open meeting for members at The Albert Hotel, Huddersfield, next Thursday, December 13 (7.30).

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the future direction of the Supporters Club.

Most members should have received an invitation by letter, but some of the branch members may not have got letters – so this is an open invitation to attend – members only.

This season, a number of Supporters Club committee members have been forced to stand down, with the committee now just five.

And they are appealing for help from members who feel they could help.

In fact, the club need a new generation of Town fans to continue the running of the club to help on such projects as updating the website, producing members’ newsletters and, organising stuff for Junior members.

They run coaches to away games, raise funds to donate to HTAFC and the Academy, organise the Player of the Year Dance, hold monthly meetings for fans, and lots more.

The next two coach trips for members are to Leeds United this Saturday, December 8, departing at 10.30 (£7.50) and Cheltenham Town on December 22, departing 10.00.

Members can book by phoning the travel line 07926 165863 (8am-8pm) – subject to availability.

There have been suggestions the Supporters Club should merge with the Supporters Trust, and there could be some merit in that – if that is what the membership feels should happen.

Both organisations are independent, and both were formed for similar reasons – to help Huddersfield Town survive at times of crisis.
