Town prove too strong

TOWN ladies will be aiming to keep on track after a notching a comfortable 3-0 win in the North East Counties League Cup.

They proved too strong for Wickersley from Division I of the Southern Section and have another knockout test this weekend, travelling to Sheffield Ladies in the second round of the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Cup.

Against Wickersley, Town took the lead on seven minutes when Jess Williamson’s speculative shot eluded the keeper.

Town went 2-0 up on 34 minutes with a looping shot from captain Emma Poole.

And on 40 minutes new signing Sue Elrington beat the keeper at her near post with a nicely struck shot.

The junior girls signed off with victories before their break until January.

The Under 12s beat Crofton Girls 7-0 in the West Riding League with a hat trick from player-of-the-match Rebecca Moore and other goals from Alice Linsell, Georgia Cooke, Siobhan McCauley and Lucy Ellis.

The Under 14s beat Farsley Celtic 2-1 with Emily Cook getting both goals.
