TOM McCREADIE bagged the winner as Division II outfit Netherton gained revenge against Kirkheaton.
The hosts were given an early opportunity to avenge a 2-1 defeat 14 days previously against visitors Kirkheaton and ran out 2-1 winners.
Playing against the wind, rain and slope, Netherton began strongly and had the better of the opening exchanges.
But they were thwarted by an in-form Rovers goalkeeper who produced a string of superb stops and saves to keep the home team at bay.
It was going to take something special to beat him and so it proved when a well-flighted corner from Rodgers was powerfully headed home by Andrew McCullie.
As Netherton looked to increase their slender lead, they were pegged back when a fast-breaking Kirkheaton passing move led to an equaliser for the sixth-placed team.
Several Netherton chances came and went with the Kirkheaton keeper again proving seemingly unbeatable.
But determined Netherton were not to be denied.
Rhys Wharam struck a well-hit shot which pin-balled around the six-yard box and McCreadie was quick to pounce when he poked it home from close range.
