Frost bites to strike out fixtures

THE recent cold snap led to the majority of minor football matches being called off.

And, for the second time in a month, the Sunday League programme was decimated with only one match being played. All four FA Sunday Cup ties were postponed.

The only game to go ahead was at Royds Hall where visiting Wellington beat Rose and Crown 3-2 in Division II with goals from Anthony Haigh (2) and Eddie Hamlet.

In the Northern Counties East League, AFC Emley’s match against Worsborough Bridge was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch but they are set to host Borrowash Victoria at the Welfare Ground on Saturday (3.00), when the Emley Christmas draw will take place at half time.

The RCD Junior League tables will appear in tomorrow’s Examiner.
