BLACK BULL have surged to the top of the League after a 4-1 win against mid-table Pak Rangers.
In a hard-fought encounter at Skelmanthorpe, goals by Jordan Kennifick (2), Chris Kilner and David Gill outweighed a solo strike from Pak Rangers’ Abdul Leftisi.
Bull now share top spot, level on 20 points with Britannia Sports, but Bull have played four games more.
Resurgent Craven beat basement side Field Head 3-0 at Royds Hall.
Dave Brennan, John Conheeney and Sean Gant grabbed the goals for Craven, whose had Andy Gant as their man-of-the-match.
It was a very one-sided game, in which Craven could have won more convincingly.
In Division II GMB Meltham closed the gap to three points on second-placed side First Huddersfield after they beat them 3-2 at Leeds Road Playing Fields.
GMB thoroughly deserved their win and at 3-0 up, with Jim Hamby scoring a thunderous long-range free-kick, Alex Gee, a penalty scored after he was felled and Jamie Taylor, they should have had many more.
Craig Fellows and Chris Munroe replied for the busmen to make the scoreline look closer than it should have been.
After the recent withdrawal of Division II side Clothiers Arms due to a lack of players, the League tables have taken on a new look.
A points adjustment, in the wake of Clothiers’ demise shortage, along with an 8-1 success against Athletico Monkey has left the very lucky Waterloo BC a considerable eight points clear at the top of Division II.
Monkey were slow out of the blocks and were 4-0 down by half time, despite creating several chances as the half wore on.
In the second half Monkey’s Will Davidson reduced the arrears with a 50-yard drive near the halfway line and his side were looking to take a grip on the game.
But Waterloo scored four goals, from only five or six chances, to gain a convincing victory.
On target for Waterloo were Mulvihill (2), Hirst (2), Mwale, Salm, Woffenden and Marsh.
In the first round of the Get Smart Insurance Challenge Cup, high-flying Division I side Britannia struggled to overcome Division II basement side Helion – narrowly beating them 3-2.
Helion twice held the lead, firstly with a 40-yard free-kick by Scott Ryan, which flew in off the underside of the bar and later a well taken penalty by Ryan following a handball on the line.
A powerful header by Kieran Lenihan levelled it at 1-1 and Doran Jordan struck the second equaliser for Britannia, when he smashed home from two yards after a goalmouth scramble.
A tactical substitution by Clayton-Smith, brought Andy Walsh into the fray and he jinked past the Helion defence to score the winning goal.
White Swan had already thrashed Woodfield Park in an Inter-divisional game and had another easy win in the Cup.
Chris Parker (2), Andrew Bintcliffe, Rob Barnes (2) and Dave Henderson struck the goals for Swan, with Brierly recording for Park.
