Dennis resigns at Emley

RAY DENNIS, manager of AFC Emley, has resigned.

The long-serving club stalwart took over at the helm along with Nicky Bramald when the club was formed three years ago, and guided them through the Yorkshire League to a stable 12th place in the Northern Counties East League Division I.

But, after Tuesday night’s 6-0 defeat by Parkgate in the quarter-final of the Sheffield Senior Cup, Dennis decided to go.

He believes he has taken the team as far as he can and has been disappointed with the response he has been getting from the players.

Club secretary Richard Poulain said: “We reluctantly accepted Ray’s resignation this week but are pleased that he wants to keep involved with the club and have welcomed him on to the committee.”

Nicky Bramald will be joined by Daryl Brook as joint caretaker managers until the end of the season.
