The District League Division II side enjoyed the majority of possession in the opening exchanges and Chris Dimbylow’s excellent strike gave Netherton the advantage going into the interval.

The visitors held out until five minutes from time when Shepley’s centre-back powered forward to head a late equaliser and force extra-time.

The Division I outfit snatched the lead when the ball was bundled home from close range to complete the turn around.

The second period of extra-time saw Netherton lay siege to the hosts’ goal as they searched for an equaliser which duly arrived.

With time running out the ball fell to Dimbylow, who fired the ball through a crowded penalty area and into the back of the net to force a penalty shoot-out.

Netherton’s goalkeeper, Konyk was the hero saving two of Shepley’s spot-kicks to ensure a 4-3 victory and book the visitors’ place in the semi-finals.

Meltham ‘A’ progressed to the second round of the Gee Cup thanks to a 3-2 away victory at Upperthong.

The home side took the lead after 15 minutes courtesy of a glancing header from Ash Cooper. Meltham fought back to equalise on 34 minutes with Jimmy Hampshire heading home a free-kick.

After the break, the visitors took the game to Upperthong and their pressure paid off when Hampshire fired in his second of the match.

Meltham grabbed a third after Dean Sykes took advantage of a defensive mix up.

Then, with 15 minutes remaining things went from bad to worse for Upperthong when Sam Buck was dismissed for dissent.

The 10 men rallied and won a penalty on 80 minutes which was converted to set up a grandstand finish.

Upperthong piled on the pressure in the final stages in search of an elusive equaliser but found the visitors’ goalkeeper, Beswick, in fine form.

Mount piled on the misery for basement boys Shelley in Division II, running out 4-1 winners.

Peter Fuller fired the hosts into an early lead before the same player put Mount 2-0 up after the break.

Craig Fellows bagged the hosts’ third after a brilliant attack that involved communication, passion and good play, before Nick Greenwood fired in a shot which flew off a defender and into the net. This made the score four without reply before Shelley netted a late consolation.

Darius Matheson struck twice as Dalton Crusaders cruised to an impressive 4-0 victory over Royal Dolphin.

Matheson latched onto a Daniel Bellanfante pass to fire home the opener.

Donavan Pennicott scored the second before Matheson netted his second and Crusaders’ third in the 34th minute.

In the second-half Lee Bradshaw completed the rout in style with a 20-yard strike into the roof of the net.
