Pylon fire halts AFC!

THERE was a night of drama at Emley when their match against Bottesford was abandoned after 23 minutes when one of the floodlight pylons set on fire!

Club secretary Richard Poulain said: “The wind and rain got into one of the pylons, causing a short circuit which resulted in all the lights going off.

“When we went to look at the problem pylon, we discovered the short had caused a fire inside, so we had no option but to abandon the match and call the fire brigade.”

The damage was being assessed today.

AFC Emley are next in action on Saturday when they entertain Tadcaster Albion in a Northern Counties East League fixture (3.00).
