Meltham storm into Gee Cup final

MELTHAM booked a place in the Huddersfield District Football League’s Gee Cup final after a 6-2 win against Hade Edge.

Hade Edge took a surprise lead in the second minute but goals by Dean Sykes, Matthew Abbott and Daniel Tindall gave Meltham a 3-1 half-time lead.

Hade Edge scored another early goal soon after the restart before Meltham hit back with a further goal for Sykes and one for Nicky Whiteley.

Meltham goalkeeper Graham Beswick then saved a Hade Edge penalty before Whiteley scored his second and Meltham’s sixth to seal a place in the final, where they will face Holme Valley Academicals at Laund Hill YMCA on Tuesday, April 29.
