Town ladies: Spartan return!
Nov 13 2008 by Linzi Nicholson, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
TOWN ladies suffered a second defeat to Blyth Spartans this season when they slumped to a 5-1 defeat in the North East.
Town started poorly and were 2-0 down inside eight minutes before rallying but were unable to make a break.
In the second half Blyth took control again and it was not until the introduction of Katie Barnes that Town started to look more dangerous.
However, Blyth further extended their lead on 76 minutes and although Abbie Iggledon pulled one back for Town a minute later, goals on 80 and 82 minutes killed the game off.
Town ladies’ next game is on Sunday away to Doncaster Parklands Rovers in the first round of the Sheffield Women’s County Challenge Cup (1.30).
Elsewhere, the Under 15s lost 7-3 at Wakefield-based Thornes with Ophelia Donlon, Emily Cook and Merita Prebresova on target for Town, who host Lepton Highlanders at Grange Moor on Saturday (10.30).
But the Under 13s reversed an earlier cup defeat to Idle Girls, when they won 2-0 with a brace from Lucy Ellis to maintain a 100% home record.
The Under 13s travel to Wigton Moor Athletic FC on Saturday (10.30).
