Local football: Emley fight back!
Mar 31 2009 By Pete Barrow
AFC EMLEY boss Ian Banks must feel he has discovered the knack of the half-time team talk.
His side trailed 2-0 at home to Teversal at the interval, but produced an impressive fightback to take three points in the NCE League’s Premier Division with a 4-2 success.
Forced into changes through injury Banks watched his much changed side struggle to find their feet as they fell a goal behind after only 90 seconds.
Emley keeper Michael Clarke had already made a smart save from Lyall but from the resultant corner Teversal snatched the lead as the ball went low into the box and no-one managed to get a foot to it and it found the corner of the net – the taker Cockerill claiming the goal.
On 15 minutes the visitors had added to their lead with a neat cross being met by Lyall and, although Clarke got his hands to the ball, he could not keep it out of the net.
Soon after Emley appeals for a penalty after Steven Kenworthy had been felled were waved away and little seemed to be going their way as Teversal enjoyed the better chances.
