HADE EDGE are looking forward to the Huddersfield District League season with big plans in the pipeline.

Not only are the Holme Valley club celebrating their centenary – they buried a time capsule to mark the event back in July – but they are also aiming to build a new clubhouse.

The club have had numerous offers of loans and donations to help towards the project to improve their ground, which is alongside Penistone Road in the village high above Holmfirth.

They are still looking for more help from the wider football community and would particularly like to hear from anyone who has had connections to the club in the past.

There was a terrific response when a team of former players played the current crop, with the ‘old ’uns’ actually winning 7-5!

Hade Edge will be back in District League action at home to Heyside when the season starts on Saturday, September 5.

While they will compete in Division IV, hoping to improve on last season’s second-bottom finish, Lepton Highlanders will defend the top-flight title.

First up for Jimmy Martin’s men are Uppermill at home.

Last season’s runners-up Britannia Sports go to Cumberworth while Moldgreen, who also came up from Division II, head across the Pennines to take on Diggle, who were third last time around.
