Ladies football: Huddersfield Town head to Doncaster in the Sheffield FA Women’s Cup

TOWN Ladies are looking forward to a plum trip to holders Doncaster Rovers Belles after beating Barnsley 3-2 in the Sheffield FA Women’s Cup.
The quarter-final clash with one of the famous clubs in women’s football will take place on Sunday (1.00).
After two months without a game, Town were eager to outplay Barnsley in their second-round clash, and for much of the game they did.
Both defences looked a little shaky in the opening minutes but gradually Town started to take control with some nice passing moves.
The opener came after 17 minutes when a neat move down the left ended with Jo Symington crossing for Katie Barnes to head home.
A defensive mix-up let in Barnsley for a 24th-minute equaliser, but Town continued to press and regained the lead with player of the match Emma Poole’s volley from the edge of the area.
Sarah Kennerdale converted Emily Heckler’s low cross to make it 3-1 early in the second half, and while Barnsley pulled one back on 65 minutes, Town held out.
With only nine fit players available, the reserves did well to restrict Farsley Celtic to a 4-2 win.
Jo Atkinson and Jodie Brinkworth scored while player-manager Laura Booth was voted player of the match.
The reserves take on Selby side Brayton Belles at Grange Moor on Sunday (1.00).
