Amateur Football: Emley chasing six wins on the trot
Jan 29 2010 By Huddersfield Examiner
EMLEY recorded their fifth victory on the trot when labouring to a 2-0 win at Grimsby Borough – and they’re looking for a sixth at home to Appleby Frodingham tomorrow (3.00).
Emley were unable to replicate the strong performances against Brighouse and Pontefract but came through nonetheless.
Josh Wright put Emley in front on the stroke of half time from the penalty spot after Marc Townsend was brought down.
Townsend then wrapped up the points on 89 minutes, heading home from a Max Joice cross.
Emley are second in the Northern Counties East Division I table, six points behind leaders Leeds Carnegie, as they approach the Appleby Frodingham clash – when they hope the Welfare Ground crowd will be boosted by Town fans unable to travel to Yeovil.
