Amateur Football: Stand-in keeper Lee Bradley shines for Kirkburton

RESERVE striker Lee Bradley stood in as keeper for Kirkburton – and played a key role as they claimed a point at pre-match West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division leaders Campion.

It took a penalty and a venomous long-range shot to get the better of Bradley, who made some great saves late on to preserve the 2-2 scoreline.

Skipper Richard Kettlewell, with a well-struck free-kick, and Greg Kelly, in a one-on-one with the Campion keeper, were on the mark for Burton.

While Burton went fourth, Campion lost top spot to Ovenden WR, who defeated Storthes Hall 3-1.

Golcar United fell to fifth after suffering a first defeat of the campaign, 3-0 at home to Steeton.

But Colne Valley rivals Marsden collected all three points from their home clash against Hall Green United, who were beaten 3-2 thanks to goals by Mark Butters, Jon Newiss and Dean Siddiq.

Bay Athletic’s home game against Wibsey was postponed.
