Looking back, what kind of a year was it for sport in general?
Coventry City beat Tottenham Hotspurs 3-2 in the F A Cup final.
Mike Tyson added the World Boxing Association heavyweight title to his World Boxing Council belt when he beat James Smith in Las Vegas.
The Australians beat England in the cricket World Cup – by seven runs.
Cyclist Stephen Roche of Ireland put in an excellent performance, taking the Giro D’Italia, the Tour de France and the World Cycling Championship.
Nick Faldo won the British Open Golf tournament and Europe beat the US 15-13 in team golf to claim the Ryder Cup.
And at Wimbledon? Pat Cash was men’s champion, with Martina Navratilova winning the women’s competition.
