BEN FUTCHER won’t return to FC Halifax Town.
That was confirmed by manager Neil Aspin after the 1-0 win against Histon on Saturday.
On-loan Futcher left to help out his parent club Bury as temporary assistant manager in August.
Dale Johnson scored the only goal in Cambridgeshire to land three more Blue Square North points for Aspin’s side, who had Jason Jarrett sent off in controversial circumstances.
Aspin said the decision was incredibly harsh but still felt his side could have done more in terms of their performance.
“I’m not happy with the performance but obviously pleased with the win,” he said.
“You can go back to the Chester game where we played exceptionally well and got nothing and then we’ve come here and not played well but got the three points.
“I know I’m a lot happier with the three points than I was after the Chester game but we know we need to play a lot better than this.”
He added: “I must give credit to Histon. It’s all right saying we didn’t play well but Histon worked exceptionally hard, they matched us up, stopped us passing. So instead of always being negative about ourselves, I think we have to give the opposition credit and I thought they did very well.”
Match-winner Johnson almost didn’t start.
“He’s not trained because he’s had a virus and he’s not felt very well, so it was touch-and-go whether he would be able to play,” Aspin revealed.
“I wanted him to start and it’s a good job he did because he scored.”
