Dan Ingham hat trick earns Kirkburton a point in 3-3 draw against Steeton
STEETON arrived at Hallas Road riding high at the top of the West Riding County Amateur League but went home disappointed as Kirkburton earned a 3-3 draw through Dan Ingham’s hat trick after trailing by three with 20 minutes to go.
Steeton scored their first goal in the eighth minute and took that lead into half time.
The visitors determination and attacking play was rewarded in the second period as in the 56th minute they added their second and, by the 65th minute, they were three goals to the good.
Kirkburton manager Howard Cartledge brought off Dan Morgan and sent on Ben Hughill, changing the system to a 3-4-3 and it seemed to pay off.
Burton put pressure on and a Josh Smith shot was well saved by Phil Rishton in the Steeton goal, but Dan Ingham was on hand to tap in.
The home side were awarded a penalty in the 82nd minute after a foul and Ingham stepped up to slot home for his second – and Burton looked as though they could get something out of the game.
They were awarded another penalty in the 90th minute when Ryan Jagger pumped a long ball into the Steeton’s penalty area and the centre half climbed all over the back of Ingham.
The referee had no other choice than to award Kirkburton the penalty and Ingham brushed himself down to score his hat-trick goal and give his side a point.
