Golf: Meltham hosting a first

THE Halifax, Huddersfield Alliance unveil a new event on Tuesday, when Meltham host the Society’s first-ever Pro-Am Texas Scramble.

Introduced by the executive at the start of the season, Alliance officials are delighted that a total of 21 four-man teams – three amateurs and one pro – have entered the inaugural event, sponsored by the Beckside Bed Company.

Assistant secretary James Washington said: “At £80 per team, it seems the event is being viewed as excellent value, with coffee and bacon sandwiches before the event and Meltham’s excellent carvery on conclusion.

“One team has actually entered from Liverpool, one of the many associations made at the National Alliance last October.”
