Golf: Paul Carman ready for Glenmuir qualifying test

The field includes a number of former European Tour members, among them Selby’s Nick Ludwell, top money winner on the North Region and Yorkshire circuits last season.

The eventual winner of the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship will bank £10,000, and the leading 10 finishers will be exempt into final qualifying for the 2010 Open Championship at St Andrews.

The tournament also carries qualifying points for the GB&I team that will take on American club professionals in the PGA Cup match.

Meanwhile, Keighley boosted her WGA Order of Merit standing with another second place in the second of the Ryder Cup Wales WPGA One Day Series played at Stoke-by-Nayland in Suffolk

Keighley, also runner-up in the first event, shot one under par 73 to tie Joanne Oliver (Knebworth) and Laura Eastwood (Teign Valley). All earned £175 after closing a shot behind Marie Allen (Brookmans Park) who took the £350 first prize.

Keighley challenges for the next event in the series at Cardiff next Wednesday.
