Golf: Chance to rub shoulders with Ryder Cup stars

LOCAL golfers are invited to walk the fairways with Ryder Cup heroes by acting as caddies at Moortown on Monday, June 29.

As part of the club’s centenary celebrations, Moortown, first hosts of a Ryder Cup match in Britain in 1929, stage a Ryder Cup Reunion Pro-am on that day and golfers from other clubs are invited to act as caddies for the famous names and players from other Ryder Cup host clubs who are taking part.

It’s a fun day out and anyone over 16, male or female, can be involved as long as they can carry a golf bag. To be part of a historic day, call Eddie Hammond on 01132 683636 or email mheggie@moortown-gc.co.uk

SANDRA Paul placed 15th in the English Womens Senior stroke-play at Royal Ashdown Forest, Sussex where she posted 81 83 87 as Christine Quinn, from Hockley, Hampshire, carded a winning 233, 14 over par, to add to her English Senior match-play success in April.

Paul’s Fixby clubmate Pat Wrightson missed the 36-hole cut by one stroke after rounds of 88 82.
