Golf: John Cockin claims prize

MARSDEN’S John Cockin took the Division I prize in the latest Wednesday Society meeting at Longley Park.

The Marsden player, off nine, scored 33 points to win on the back nine from Meltham’s Chris Holmes (six). Another Meltham player, Philip Walton (15) was third, a point behind.

Crosland Heath 25 handicapper Roy Goggs was the Division II winner on 37 points ahead of clubmate David Wood (17) on 32.

Meltham’s Martin Greenhalgh won the nearest the pin prize on the 18th.

Next week’s meeting is at Marsden.
