JAKE SMITH celebrated becoming the Wednesday Society Golfer of the Year by winning the First Division event at Marsden.

The Outlane 13 handicapper was first on 34 points ahead of Marsden pair David Braithwaite (12 handicap, 33 points) and John Cocking (11, 32).

Division II winner was Dewsbury’s Hendrick Murray (16, 38) from Elland’s Barry Isles (20, 34) and Marsden’s Alan Harper (19, 32).

John Sheard is the new society captain and his Bradley Park clubmate Steve Braithwaite the new president.

Today’s event takes place at Outlane.
