Golf: Results from the Lawrence Batley Seniors League opening day fixtures
A TEAM representing accountants Walker & Sutcliffe won the Forget Me Not Trust Golf Day at Huddersfield Golf Club.
The quartet of David Walker, Nick Ledgard, Paul Johnson and Richard Blackburn scored 84 points in the Stablford event, to beat off the challenge of 15 other teams.
Just one point behind were former Town footballer Andy Booth’s team, which included Richard Spychalski, Jarrad Hazelden and Martin Byrne.
Forget Me Not fundraiser Gina Fielding said: “We had a tremendous day and raised around £6,000 towards the fund.
“Three students from the University of Huddersfield had helped along with way attracting teams, and the trio of Kayleigh Barker, Tristan Batley-Kyle and Tony Gibson worked their socks off on the day itself.
“They raised £350 on hole 11, where people had to chance to gamble of landing on the green from the tee.
“We also had an auction and a raffle at the end of the competition, and we had a great response from people, most of whom suggested we should make it an annual event.”
