Golf: Charlotte Hirst too hot for Outlane ladies

FOURTEEN-year-old Charlotte Hirst proved just too hot to handle when Outlane Golf Club held their President’s Ladies competition.

The daughter of popular club steward Nick had a scorching outward nine holes, when she reached the turn with a remarkable 31 nett!

Playing off a handicap of 20, Charlotte came back in 35 for a fabulous total of 66, which left her an amazing six shots clear of Christine Lamont, who carded a nett 72 off 28 handicap.

And that was good enough to seal second spot, ahead of Wendy Stott (14) and Sandra Eastwood (24) who both signed for 73s, after which there were a host of players in the 70s.

The Over 60s prize, which is a reduced Stableford competition on President’s Day, was won by Pat Beever, who edged a win after beating Dot Wellings by a single point.

Meanwhile, new member Wayne Milner grabbed his first-ever victory in the Mid-week Medal when he scored 41 points.

Milner’s score was boosted by a number of single putts as he went out in 20 and came back with 21 to give him a one-point win over Geoff Hirst, who snatched second place on countback from Simon McKenzie.
