Lightcliffe weather the conditions to win Junior Claret Cup

LIGHTCLIFFE sealed a memorable Junior Claret Cup win in torrid conditions with a magnificent 79 points at Halifax Golf Club.

Tom Stroker for Lightcliffe also posted the best individual score with 42 points, as Lightcliffe combated the elements to take the win.

Stroker’s 42 coupled with Patrick Latham Sharp’s 37 put them eight points clear of Hebden Bridge (Neeve Fisher/Jacob Shaw) and Outlane (Joe Blackwell/Charlie Mitchell) who both finished with 71, giving them the joint runners-up prize.

Kayleigh Sugden of Crow Nest Golf Club achieved the best girl score with 36 points, just pipping Bradley Park’s Georgia Wilson to the achievement.

The competition, sponsored by David and Janet Cox, is now in it’s eighth year.

Other scores: Winners – Lightcliffe: Tom Stoker (42) and Patrick Latham Sharp (37) total 79 points; Joint runners-up – Hebden Bridge: Neeve Fisher (33) and Jacob Shaw (38) total 71 points and Outlane: Joe Blackwell (37) & Charlie Mitchell (34) total 71 points.

Best girl: Kayleigh Sugden (Crow Nest Park) 36 points.

Overall best score: Tom Stoker (Lightcliffe) 42 points.
