LIGHTCLIFFE juniors Tom Stroker and Patrick Sharp won the Junior Claret Cup a Halifax Ogden after overcoming dreadful conditions, which threatened to close the course.
Stroker came in with a tremendous haul of 42 points which, added to Sharp’s 37, gave them a winning total of 79, eight ahead of their nearest rivals, and also brought Stroker the individual prize.
Two teams shared the runners-up prize as Hebden Bridge (Neeve Fisher and Jacob Shaw) and Outlane’s Joe Blackwell and Charlie Mitchell both scored 71 points, and were unable to be separated with identical scores.
Kayleigh Sugden won the best girl’s score, the Crow Nest Park golfer coming in with 36 points, and a better back nine than Bradley Park’s Georgia Wilson.
Thanks were expressed to David and Janet Cox who sponsored the event which is now in its eighth year.
