IN the League, Brighouse C narrowly beat Ossett Sports 6-3 in Division V of the Huddersfield Badminton League.

The majority of the rubbers were closely contested but home team Brighouse won the key points to seal victory.

Men’s: John Dearden and Ian Holness bt Tony Fox and Ian Pescod 21-16, 21-13, Dearden and Stuart Ogden bt Fox and Steve Brown 21-16, 21-15, Holness and Ogden lost to Pescod and Brown 17-21, 19-21.

Ladies: June Drury and Karen Firth bt Judith Halliwell and Trish Hattersley 21-15, 21-17, Drury and Sheena Fairburn bt Halliwell and Linda Ellis 21-15, 25-23, Firth and Fairburn bt Hattersley and Ellis 21-16, 19-21, 25-23.

Mixed: Dearden and Drury lost to Fox and Halliwell 18-21, 21-14, 17-21, Holness and Fairburn lost to Pescod and Hattersley 15-21, 10-21, Ogden and Firth bt Brown and Ellis 21-19, 21-16.
