TEAM Netherton won the Four Person event at Milnsbridge BC, beating Lower Hopton in the showpiece, and there was a further celebration for members Ashley Daykin and Steven Hirst, who also took the Open Pairs.
The story could have been different, however, as Hirst lost his game in the semi-final of the team event 21-10 to Peter Kain while Steven Haigh lost to Craig Gant 21-15, meaning Netherton were 26 behind at half way to Brockholes.
Paul Sigsworth pulled it back with a 21-14 win, but it still left Daykin needing a solid victory against Jack Dyson.
He superbly bowled a mark across the middle of the green which Dyson just couldn’t master and he took it 21-6, giving Netherton a six-point victory.
In the final, Hirst beat county colleague Graham Hickey 21-10 and, from then on, Netherton were too strong.
