Tennis: Sponsorship and new coach give fresh focus for Nicole Peterson

NICOLE PETERSON has two extra reasons to go one better at this year’s Sellers International Huddersfield Open tennis tournament, which starts on Saturday.

For last year’s women’s runner-up has just linked up with Czech coach Tomas David at the Edgerton club.

And the highly-rated 16-year-old has also been handed welcome sponsorship from Robert Hall, of Hi-Tech Business Machines at Bradley.

The deal coincides with the completion of Bradley-based Peterson’s studies at Rastrick High School, and will allow her to go full-time.

She is already among the top 10 Under 18s and top 50 senior women in Britain and top 500 juniors in the world.

And recently, when was among 420 youngsters selected by the Lawn Tennis Association to join the AEGON FutureStars programme.

Hi-Tech Business Machines managing director Hall explained: “I have known Nicole and her father Steve for quite a while and have seen her rapid development through hard work.

“The time is right for her to move her career forward, and this deal rewards her hard work, dedication and talent.”

Peterson, who is expected to play Yorkshire League tennis for Huddersfield, was a recent runner-up to Hertfordshire’s Claire Ricketts in the AEGON Hallamshire Tournament and is this week competing in Nottingham.
