Next generation of Murrays on their way in Sellers style
THE next generation of Andy Murrays are on their way!
Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club have got their prestigious Sellers International tournament under way at their Edgerton base.
It was the youngsters who featured strongly over the weekend, with many of the club’s prospects trying to qualify for the main draw.
Emily Morton secured her place in the Girls 12-and-Under tournament and Alex Mills will take his place in the Boys 12-and-Under event.
The tournament is a grade three competition attracting top amateur players from across the country.
But Flockton’s Mike Tolman is the one to beat in the men’s singles when he begins his campaign on Thursday.
Tolman, last year’s winner, is seeded No1, but will have Lancashire’s Nathan Jones and Sean Stafford, who will tackle the doubles together, to contend with.
Nicole Peterson, from Bradley, is the ladies No1 seed, with competition coming from Chorley’s Olivia Brown, who is also the top seed in the 18-and-Under.
