Swimming: Stunning performance by Borough of Kirklees swimming club in Yorkshire Championships

BOROUGH of Kirklees swimming club put in a stunning performance in the Yorkshire Championships in Leeds and Sheffield.

They won 19 gold, 18 silver and 29 bronze individual medals, with the majority of the squad finishing in the top 10, proving what a talented group the nine to 16-year-olds are.

Ryan Flanagan won five gold medals, as did Harmonie Waterman.

Daniel Cross achieved three golds and Emily Robinson and Holly Brook two each – both girls achieving National Qualifying times for their efforts.

There were also golds won by Regan Gregg, Isobel Martin, James Matthews and Eden Warburton.

The teams celebrated with two gold, three silver and six bronze medals.

These included double success for the Girls 9/10 years medley and freestyle team, where Isobel Martin, Keelan Fitton, Abigail Fisher, Rianne Barlow and Eden Warburton were untouchable.

The club are continuing to train hard for the North East County Championships in June and the Nationals in August.
