HUDDERSFIELD Heat are putting  the final touches to their squad for  the coming English Basketball  League season.

Having been newly promoted to  Division III, player-coach Eduardo  Perez has been working hard to bring  some new faces to add to last year’s  squad, and they began their  pre-season friendlies with an away  trip to Division IV side Hull Wasps at  the Bonus Arena on Saturday  (7.30pm).

“While we had a very successful  year once again last season to clinch  promotion back up to division three,  it is clear that are going to have to  strengthen to meet the challenges of  the step up in level,” said Perez.

“This year we will be up against a  different calibre of teams, many with  current and ex internationals in their  ranks.

“We have already had three new  faces with us during pre-season,  bringing our squad up to 16 players, a  much healthier size and I’m hoping  we can have everything finalised on  the men’s front next week.”

An announcement on the squad  will be made by the club next week,  with many of last year’s players  having already committed long term  to the club.

Following the match at Hull, the  Heat continue their build-up with a  trip to EBL newcomers Rossendale  Raptors.
Heat women’s team will also be  competing at national level, as the  club has entered the National  Founders Cup for the first time for  this section.

The club is interested to hear from  prospective players as recruitment for  this squad is not yet complete.

Off the court, the hard work  continues to find a main sponsor for  the club.
