Table tennis: Darren Lindley aiming to hold off hot competition and retain his Huddersfield Closed singles title

DEFENDING singles champion Darren Lindley can expect some tough competition in the Huddersfield Closed Championships on Sunday.

It’s a full day of table tennis, culminating in the early evening with the finals, at Newsome Sports College.

Tim Dyson, who beat Lindley earlier in the season, will be especially keen to claim his 10th title.

However, much interest will also focus on how far Deighton’s Tomas Pietrzyk can go.

He is unbeaten this season in Division Two and is expected to cause some discomfort at least to the top players who have not yet seen him.

Seedings may be a little difficult for the organisers this year!
