TYRONE NURSE still has no opponent to contest a title fight on the big Kell Brook bill in Sheffield.

It’s hoped the Huddersfield light-welterweight can fight for maybe Central Area honours at the Motorpoint Arena on October 20.

That’s when Brook fights Hector Saldivia for the No1 contender position for the IBF welterweight title.

It’s a massive Sky presentation and Linthwaite-based trainer Chris Aston not only has Nurse on the undercard, but Halifax bantamweight Scott Gladwin.

He is up against Khalid Yafai, who won an Olympic bronze medal in Beijing but didn’t get in the London 2012 team and now has a professional record of three fights, three wins.

“It’s a tough fight for Scott, but if he can win it would be great on such a big bill and with so many TV viewers,” said Aston.

“Scott has a bit more experience than Yafai and he’s got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

“Hopefully he can get the win to improve his 6-1 record and then he’ll really be able to kick on from the experience.”

Aston says he has no idea who will take on Nurse on the bill, which also includes Adil Anwar against Dale Miles in a British title final eliminator.

“Tyrone is a much better 10-round fighter than Adil is and he beat Dale Miles in Prizefigher, so we are operating around that level even though Tyrone is much younger,” added Aston.

“Some of these unbeaten, so-called good fighters who are around right now just don’t want to know about taking on Tyrone.

“The thing with him is that, while he’s got a decent punch, he is the sort of boxer who hits you often and doesn’t get hit back – and people don’t like to come up against that sort of opponent.

“It’s like being beaten up by a 15-year-old when you are only 10 – there’s nothing you can do about it.

“They also know Tyrone is ready, because he has been doing some good sparring.”

Tickets for the Motorpoint Arena event can be bought through Aston on 07917 881114. Prices are £30, £40, £60, £100 and £150 for VIP, which includes exclusive entrance, bar and party area and ringside seats.

Australia has granted Mike Tyson a visa a week after he was barred from entering New Zealand due to his 1992 rape conviction.

A spokeswoman from Australia’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship said it had granted the former heavyweight boxing champion an entertainment visa to cover the duration of his five-city Australian tour starting next month.
