MOODY started cycling when he was 12 with his uncle, who was just starting cycling himself as part of a new fitness regime.

Instantly he was hooked and his first road bike was a Villiers and he was seriously impressed with all the gears it had.

He joined his local Club, PedalSport CC and simply enjoyed riding out with his uncle and his dad, who also got the bug after watching Levi getting out regularly and enjoying it, but it wasn’t until he was 14 that he started to ride competitively in Cyclo-Cross.

At the end of that year he started the over winter training at Richard Dunn Sports Centre with the White Rose Youth League.

“This training session just once a week through the winter was fantastic,” said Levi.

“So many riders have learned their competition skills there and there’s a great sense of camaraderie.”

At the end of his first year as an Under16 rider he had earned himself a reputation as a very strong Cyclo-Cross rider and was beginning to show signs that Road racing brought him great satisfaction too, competing in Tameside, Lancaster and Preston as well as Yorkshire.

RST called on his services as a guest rider to make a team entry for the North West International Youth Tour and he made a great contribution to the team getting second place overall.

It was therefore no surprise that he joined RST from PedalSport at the end of August.

“They are a great team and a great bunch of lads and we all get on really well. You have to work for each other in team events and the North West Youth Tour proved how good we can be,” added Moody.

He represented Yorkshire this year in London and Newport at the Inter-Regional Championships and in September he won his first national title in the National Track Championships in the Scratch.

“I’m now looking forward to training over-winter with my teammates. Next year as a first year Junior is not going to be easy,” said Moody. “But we love the hard work and preparation. I want to make sure I finish every race and improve week by week.”
