Amy’s setting her sights high

Gymnastics Amy Henson is a gymnastics star in the making. The 12-year-old, from Golcar, has just passed the National Elite Grades competition in Liverpool. Amy, who competed against 45 others, achieved the qualifying mark which enables her to compete in the British Espoir Championships at Gloucester in June. Her ambition is to compete at the highest level. The Huddersfield Gymnastics Club member overcame a poor score on beam to record the fourth highest on vault. The result means she is now on course to follow in the footsteps of her Olympic heroes. Amy, who was emotionally and physically drained after the competition, said: “I couldn’t have tried any harder and I just wanted to make my family and grandma proud.” Read
