Amateur RU: MCA suffer from travel sickness in final away trip
Apr 21 2009 by David Lockwood, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
YMCA were well beaten in their final away game of the season at Dinnington who are still chasing the second automatic promotion spot from Yorkshire II.
The 46-7 scoreline would have been considerably worse had Cannadine been more accurate with his kicking, the Dinnington fly-half missing five conversions to the eight tries run in by his side.
The home side made a strong start and were soon ahead when second row Stimpson crashed over from close range, Cannadine adding the extras.
The remainder of the half was played very much in the middle of the park, until the 40th minute, when Sam Hodge, playing only his second first team game, set up a great drive, and the quick-thinking scrum half Josh Marshall spotted a gap, turned on a sixpence to go through it and then sprinted for the line, going underneath the posts. Gavin Stead added the conversion to level it.
But then in overtime, the referee awarded Dinnington a free-kick, and while both sides were wondering why, home captain Starr tapped the ball to himself, ran into open space and scored easily unopposed.
