FRANCIS ENTRESSENGLE gets a rare starting chance at hooker for Huddersfield’s visit to Hull Ionians tomorrow (3.00).
With regular No2 Ben Morrill unavailable, talented youngster Entressengle, who was playing up in the North-East last year, starts alongside Tony Stringwell and Alex Battye as coach Dan Hyde looks to make it two triumphs out of two following last week’s opening 42-30 win at Stockport.
New signing Darren Neilly also comes in for his full first team debut in the second row to partner James Davies, while Tom Andrews and Danny Chirwa have also won first team call-ups.
Hyde has several players unavailable this week, while giant second row Gavin Rhodes is likely to be out for a couple of weeks with an injury.
“I was chuffed to come away with a win last week at Stockport in the first game against a newly-promoted side who were full of gusto,” said Hyde.
“However, I wasn’t too happy about us conceding so many points, although to Stockport’s credit they did score some well-constructed tries and they have a very big pack, who I think will get better and better as the season progresses.
“So to come away with a win and a bonus point, was literally a real bonus for us.”
As well as newly-signed Neilly, Hyde has also selected another recruit from neighbours YMCA in Karl Sibbons on the bench with Steve Rothery, Ben Hoyle and David Hall.
Huddersfield: Owen; Chirwa, B Paxman, Andrews, Sutcliffe; Johnson, Hinchliffe; Stringwell, Entressengle, Battye, Neilly, Davies, Lewis, Hinchliff, Sharpe. Subs: Lancaster, Rothery, Hoyle, Sibbons, Hall.
