ATHLETES from Holmfirth Harriers made their presence felt at the Horsforth 10k - John Philpott and Kath Farquhar taking golds!

On a fairly tough course in decent weather, Philpott was 42nd overall in 38-31 to win gold in the veterans Over 50 section.

The Holmfirth women were in superb form for the team prize with Farquhar finishing 51st in 38-51, third woman overall and winning gold in the Over 35 category.

Ricky South was the first Holmfirth runner home in 18th position out of 584 finishers in 36-08 to equal his personal best.

Richard Griffiths, retaining his fitness level, was next in 31st position in 37-29.

Rachael Mellor was 107th and was sixth woman finisher in 41-21, setting a new PB and took silver in the Over 40s.

The third member of the successful team was Helen Pettit who finished 179th in 44-40 (a PB).

M Pennington 54th 39-03, R Kersey 59th in 39-26 and winning silver in the O/50 category, K Wild 85th in 40.32, Claire Leaver 120th in 42-08 but due to her recent transfer from another club could not count in the Holmfirth team, Pippa Ashfield 307th in 49-23, Jackie Graham 320th in 49-43, Adrienne Dewhirst 418th in 53-17,A Greaves 446th in 54-17, D Addy 473rd in 55.58 and Nina Suarez running her first 10K race in 480th position in 56-13.
