Huddersfield's Andy Williams has become a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt.

The 46-year-old, who has been training for 16 years, is the only black belt in Huddersfield with the award coming from the club’s affiliation with Fusion Jiu-Jitsu Club Brazil.

The Northfield Hall-based club were affiliated seven years ago, when instructors Ricardo Mattos and Renato De Sousa came to Huddersfield from Brazil to award Williams his brown belt.

The club has also had two students, Tia Leoni Derrick and Sheridan John, promoted to coaches.

Derrick has just completed 10 years training with Williams, who received his Black belt for his commitment and dedication to promoting Brazilian Jiujitsu in the UK .

The club, who will be putting on a display at the Deighton Carnival on June 28, currently train at Northfield Hall on Mondays and Thursdays between 5-6pm.

The club would like to thank the Lions MMA Huddersfield and the local community for helping to raise funds to get new mats.
