Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle says they ideally want to sign two more players to complete manager Mark Robins’ squad for the Championship season.

The John Smith’s Stadium chief insists everything is being done behind the scenes to import the quality men the manager wants.

But as Town took on Spanish giants Real Betis in last night’s plum home friendly, Hoyle explained it’s a balancing act to add to the six signings made so far.

“I think we have been quite astute in the transfer market so far but we need to get two more players – I can’t say which positions – to complete the squad,” he said.

“With financial fair-play coming in we are struggling to get those players in without releasing a couple, but we will try and do a little bit of wheeling and dealing over the next few weeks and hopefully it will all come together.”

Hoyle said it would be easy for him to just fund any further moves, but Town have to work more realistically than that if they are to compete for years to come at a very tough level.

“We are working hard behind the scenes, but good players just don’t come along when you want,” he said.

“We are a Championship team and evolving all the time, and we will do our best to put together a side the fans can be proud of.”

Town had trialist striker Cristian Lopez on the bench last night. The 24-year-old has been with Real Madrid B and Valencia B and has been on trial at Barnsley.
